Masque Royal Bushongo
Royal Mask
Bushongo tribe art is one of the most developed traditional African artistic traditions. It refers to the rich heritage of the tribe including nearly 20 types of masks. “Royal” masks are rare – extremely beautiful and decorative, made of animal fur, raffia and cowry shells.
Contrary to the name, the masks of this kind are not worn by the ruling monarch, but by those whom the sovereign indicates should wear it.
