Château d’Artigny: An Augmented Reality Exhibition!

« Glory and Decadence »: An Augmented Reality Exhibition at Château d’Artigny

For the 2024 European Heritage Days, the BavAR[t] app unveiled a unique immersive experience in collaboration with the Tours Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Montbazon, September 21, 2024 — BavAR[t] unveils « Gloire et Décadence, » a groundbreaking augmented reality exhibition at the majestic Château d’Artigny. Winner of the « Tourism and Innovation » call for projects in Touraine, this innovative experience invites visitors to step into the lavish world of the Roaring Twenties and uncover the captivating story of François Coty, pioneer of modern perfumery and creator of this magnificent château.

A journey through the history of Château d’Artigny
Built between 1912 and 1929 by François Coty, Château d’Artigny is a true architectural masterpiece designed in the 18th-century style. Inspired by Château de Champlâtreux, Coty aspired to rival the grand builders of the Grand Siècle, endowing the estate with unparalleled refinement. However, this masterpiece served its creator only briefly—Coty passed away in 1934, leaving behind a legacy of grandeur and decline.

The Rotunda: The Jewel of the Château

The « Gloire et Décadence » experience highlights the Rotunda on the first floor, a lavish reception hall adorned with a trompe-l’œil fresco by Charles Hoffbauer. This fresco, depicting a costume ball where Coty’s friends and close associates are immortalized, serves as the focal point of the exhibition. Through augmented reality, visitors can rediscover these characters in a Belle Époque/Gatsby-inspired setting, immersing themselves in the grandeur and decadence of Coty’s extravagant soirées.

An immersive and innovative experience
In collaboration with the CCI of Tours and as part of the The Place by CCI 37 incubator, BavAR[t] has created an immersive experience that transports visitors into the atmosphere of the 1920s. 3D animations, reminiscent of paper theaters, bring the Rotonde fresco to life with a design inspired by the era. This artistic approach aims to capture the essence of the lavish parties that marked the history of the château.
A project supported by the « Tourism and Innovation » call for projects in Touraine.

Launched during the European Heritage Days, this project was made possible through the « Tourism and Innovation » call for projects in Touraine. This program supports innovative projects in the tourism sector, providing them with the opportunity to test their concepts in prestigious real-world environments. BavAR[t] is honored to have been selected to implement this unique experience, combining heritage, innovation, and art.
