As part of the 2025 Mathematics Week, students at Marguerite de Navarre High School in Bourges (European Capital of Culture 2028) took on a unique challenge: combining science and art. They created digital artworks inspired by mathematical concepts and then organized a fun, outdoor exhibition using BavAR[t].
This immersive exhibition, accessible during the high school’s Open House, transformed the campus into an interactive treasure hunt, blending the students’ creations with artworks from the high school’s 1% cultural collection. This project allowed the students to develop a wide range of skills outside of traditional classes.
The process was as follows:
Selecting a mathematical concept (sequences, probabilities, etc.).
Creating a digital artwork related to that concept.
Integrating the artworks into BavartApp alongside the high school’s heritage.
Designing an augmented reality trail.
This unique project combines math, art, and digital technology in a hands-on, fun approach. It enabled students to acquire skills in programming and cultural mediation while showcasing the high school’s heritage in an innovative way. It’s a perfect illustration of our philosophy: making digital technology a tool for cultural and educational mediation that is accessible to everyone.
