Classroom Projects in Augmented Reality with BavAR[t]
A class project that steps outside the classroom walls. Lesson sequences that become a memory. Skills that become second nature.
It’s back-to-school season, and with it, the time to build your projects for the year. Good news: BavAR[t] is a registered Pass Culture partner, available through the collective portion — from middle school to the final year of high school.
6 Ways to Work With BavAR[t]
Looking for a project that steps outside the lecture format without stepping outside the curriculum? Here are six possible formats:
- 🏛️ A year-round trail installed in your school or town, integrated into the cultural programming.
- 📍 A one-off on-site experience, for a school trip or a dedicated day.
- 🗺️ A collection that travels beyond the walls, to explore a local archive with no transport or heavy logistics.
- 🎯 An event-style game trail, like a heritage treasure hunt, for an outdoor class, an end-of-year project or a themed week.
- 🎙️ A content-creation workshop, where students write, record and stage the story themselves.
- 📸 A 3D scanning workshop, where students scan a heritage object through photogrammetry.
What Does This Look Like in the Classroom?
Workshop 1 — 3D Scanning
Students scan a heritage object from start to finish. Precision, scientific rigor, observation skills: 22 out of 22 students succeeded on their first scan attempt during a school workshop. A strong entry point for technology and science, also valuable for civic education (heritage protection and transmission). They then document, research and build a first collective collection… exhibitable within the school itself.
Workshop 2 — Content Creation
Students lead the historical research, write the scripts, record the audio and choose the staging. That’s exactly what students at Université Rennes 2 did to bring a piece of Breton heritage back to life — a model that transfers well to middle and high school, drawing on French (writing, speaking) as much as history or maths.
And it doesn’t stop at arts and cultural education: science, technology, geography-history, French, civic education — every subject can build its own entry point, standalone or cross-disciplinary.
