The Parisian “Biffins” in the Spotlight: An Eco-Digital and Cultural Walk for the European Heritage Days (JEP) 2025
For the 2025 European Heritage Days, BavAR[t] is partnering with the Jacqueline de Romilly Library to offer an immersive cultural walk in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. This initiative showcases our eco-digital approach by leveraging existing digital content. By reusing and enriching creations from a previous collaboration with the library, we are demonstrating that it’s possible to offer high-quality experiences without incurring significant costs. It’s a responsible approach that encourages cultural institutions to optimize their resources.
The event also highlights the central role of librarians. Far from being simple guides, they are true mediators of the neighborhood’s history and anecdotes. Their expertise and passion transform each point of interest into a lively narrative, accessible to all audiences.
Thanks to the BavartApp, participants will be able to access detailed descriptions and potentially immersive audio content for each point of interest. Our technology allows for a personalized and in-depth discovery, inviting everyone to explore the route at their own pace. An emblematic stop on the walk will be dedicated to the history of the “biffins” (rag-and-bone men), a fascinating aspect of the 18th arrondissement’s past.
The activity is designed for everyone to enjoy it to the fullest. It will be extended for two weeks after the European Heritage Days, offering a unique opportunity for residents and users to connect with the history of their neighborhood.
Dates: September 20, 2025, for a guided tour with the librarians, and from September 19 to October 2, 2025, to enjoy the route independently.
Rewards: Cultural gifts are planned for the most adventurous participants.
